“Is it really here?” the question that lingered through my mind as I heard a honk from the outside. Through my surprise, my new HP Pavilion g4 is finally here. I rushed out of the door and signed the confirmation. Oh the joy of having a new gadget. I opened that baby up like a little child, while my big brother record me with his ipad (which I hope he will not put up online). I just had to slow things down and carefully unwrap the fragile object. lol. Placed the battery and open up the system.
New Customized Computer [CHECK], meant for the Optometry School (Window7Professional, 6 GB memory, i5 Processor, etc) this coming August 2012.
As I finished watching “Marley & Me,” memories of my first pet dog name Kulot (which is a Filipino word for Curly) slides through my head. Memories that reminded me of my childhood… running around the house with him, taking him a bath so that he doesn’t stink, and mostly important, coming towards me when called. [Note: The photo is not Kulot, but our pet in Hawaii name Lucky)
During the mid-Easter weekend, the family celebrated the birthday of mother. What did I do, I made her breakfast. I prepared eggs, waffles, mushroom soup, spam, and coffee. Define LABOR OF LOVE. LoL. Soon after, my big sister and her son went by to greet her with a lovely cake and orchids.
Indeed, we are blessed to have such an awesome, caring, and wonderful mother.
The night of my birthday came with another surprise. My family took out a cake! Gosh. As I glanced through the candle that carved my age, I was thinking “Shucks, those should be illegal.” But that was indeed so sweet. What a day!
“Rekindle,” the word that describe this 2012 birthday of mine. Just thinking of the events that happened this morning, bright smile surface my face. “Oh how great it is to be home” with my family. After five years celebrating it on Oahu, I forgot how it will be like to spent it with the family here on the Big Island. Though words are not uttered much, I truly feel the love my family gave me.
The day started with a gentle song of “Happy Birthday” from my mother and my little sister as I came out of the restroom. The word “oh my” spilled out of my mouth with a “ahhhh” followed after due to my shy nature. My sister then excitedly announced, “we have a surprise for you.” I then followed her to the dinner table to find a Birthday greeting card. I opened the card and my eyed glowed as I further seen my birthday present which is a check. I won’t disclose the amount; however, it will be the money I will use to buy my school lap top (for Optometry School). On the back of my mind, I was like “thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh gosh, oh gosh, and oh gosh.”
My mother and I then headed to Lava Java at Waikoloa Village Shopping Center. Being that It was my first time there, I ordered their “Lava Java Breakfast” that includes: eggs, waffle, and bacon. What an awesome presentation they have with their food. Their coffee was also great! Conversation and great laughter came out of that table. It’s truly great spending this birthday of mine with my mother. I am glad that we had an opportunity to bond.
Coming home, I had the privilege in reading multiple birthday words from my facebook friends and also encouraging text coming from friends and co-workers. I truly felt special! Thank you very much to everyone and most importantly…to Jesus.. who gave me this sweet day!
